A new year has begun and with a new year come new challenges and journeys. One of which for me is beginning this BAPP degree. What I always find exciting about the new year is the unknown. The fact that, if you wanted, you could start the year with a blank page. You don't know where you will be at beginning or end of the year and similarly you don't know what will take place in between. I am seeing this blog in the same way. This post is the first on a blank page so a good way to begin is to introduce myself and tell you some more about me and my journey so far.
- My name is Madeleine. Most people call me Maddy. I don't mind either!
- I began my vocational ballet training at Elmhurst School for Dance at the age of 16
- At Elmhurst I did two A-levels in Art and English.
- After graduation I joined Northern Ballet on their graduate programme where I gained performance experience with the company which I loved.
- Last year I had a hip operation which I am now (almost) fully recovered from. For anyone who has injured an operation, whether being a dancer or not will understand how difficult this is and I am sure I will talk more about this throughout the course.
- During my recovery I started teaching private ballet lessons which I have grown to love doing.
- I have just started working with a ballet company in London, Vienna Festival Ballet.
- I love reading, cooking/baking (especially the eating that follows this), drawing and spending time with my friends and family.
- I lead a very active lifestyle (not just because I'm a dancer) but because I enjoy excercise.
- I really love practising Pilates and yoga and am very interested in doing a Pilates teacher training course at some point in the future.
- My favourite film is Dirty Dancing
Hopefully that doesn't sound too much like a CV and has given you a decent introduction to myself. I am very excited to begin this course and continue developing my blog.
